Lady in Red

watercolor 18x24 2006- private collection
This piece is available as a
limited edition print.

This painting is based on Sara’s interpretation of Pontormo’s “Portrait of a Lady in Red.” She represents all of us.  The little dog is a symbol of faithfulness.  The orchids symbolize happiness or joy. Cherries represent sweetness of character from good works as well as a reference to the Trinity. The teapot stands for the idea that we are all vessels.
